A Weekend of Innovation and Service
On March 9-10, Palm Beach Atlantic University hosted its first Code-a-thon, bringing together students from various disciplines to collaborate on technology-driven solutions for a local church.
The event combined technical skill-building with a strong emphasis on service, encouraging students to apply their knowledge in ways that create real community impact.
Solving Real-World Challenges
Participants worked in teams to identify challenges faced by the church and develop practical solutions. These included improving communication systems, streamlining operations, and enhancing digital engagement.
The hands-on nature of the Code-a-thon allowed students to move quickly from ideas to implementation, reinforcing skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and rapid development.
Technology with Purpose
What set this event apart was its mission-driven focus. Rather than building theoretical projects, students used technology to directly serve a local organization.
This approach reflects Palm Beach Atlantic University’s commitment to integrating faith, learning, and service, preparing students to make meaningful contributions beyond the classroom.
